 Here’s a guide to help you through the process.

1. Determine the Type of Visa

  • Tourist Visa (B-2): This visa is for tourists, those visiting friends or relatives, or participating in social or recreational activities.


 

2. Complete the DS-160 Form

  • Go to the Consular Electronic Application Center and fill out the DS-160 form.
  • Select the location where you will be applying, such as the U.S. Consulate in Perth.
  • After completing the form, you’ll receive a DS-160 confirmation page with a barcode, which you need to print out.

3. Pay the Visa Application Fee

  • The fee for a B-2 visa is USD $185 (as of the latest update). You can pay the fee online through the U.S. visa application website.
  • Keep the receipt as proof of payment.

4. Schedule a Visa Interview

1. Go to https://www.usvisascheduling.com/

2. Click on "Sign up now"

3. Enter Username, setup the Password and Email Address, and click on "Send Verification Code"

4. Enter Verification Code received on email ID

5. Click on "Verify Code" and set the security questions

6. Click on "Create"

 

You can view the response to your query under “Feedback/Requests on the Visa Application Home Page” only after you have signed up.

5. Prepare the Required Documents

  • Valid Passport: Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in the U.S.
  • DS-160 Confirmation Page: Bring the printed confirmation page with the barcode.
  • Visa Fee Receipt: Proof of payment.
  • Appointment Confirmation: Printed confirmation of your visa interview appointment.
  • Photo: A recent passport-sized photo that meets U.S. visa photo requirements.
  • Supporting Documents: These might include:
    • Proof of financial stability (bank statements, payslips, etc.).
    • Evidence of ties to Australia (employment letter, property ownership, family ties).
    • Travel itinerary (flight bookings, hotel reservations).
    • Any other documents that can support the purpose of your visit.
