Key steps for your photo:

  • Show the entire head, from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin
  • Center the head within the frame
  • Maintain a neutral expression, facing the camera

Paper Photo Head Size Template




  • Size: 2" x 2"
  • Head Height: 1" to 1 3/8" (25mm - 35mm)
  • Eye Height: 1 1/8" to 1 3/8" (28mm - 35mm) from bottom

Digital Image Head Size Template



  • Head Height: 50% to 69% of image's height
  • Eye Height: 56% to 69% of image's height
  • Pixel Dimensions: Minimum 600 x 600, Maximum 1200 x 1200, in a square aspect ratio

How to Ensure Your Passport Photo Meets DV Lottery 2026 Requirements ðŸŒŸ

Planning to apply for the DV Lottery 2026 U.S. Green Card? In this video, I'll guide you through the essential steps to make sure your passport photo meets all the requirements, avoiding common pitfalls and increasing your chances of success!

🔹 Photo Requirements:

  • Size: 2x2 inches (51 x 51 mm)

  • Resolution: 300 pixels per inch (12 pixels per millimeter)

  • File Size: Less than 240 kilobytes (240 KB)

  • Color: Must be in color

  • Composition: Head should occupy 50–69% of the photo's height

  • Background: Plain white or off-white

  • Pose: Full-face view, directly facing the camera

  • Expression: Neutral facial expression with both eyes open

  • Attire: Daily clothing (religious attire permitted)

  • Accessories: No headphones, wireless devices, or eyeglasses (except for medical reasons)

  • Age: Photo must be taken within the last six months

🔔 Important: The photo must be submitted electronically with the E-DV online entry. You can submit your application from the United States or overseas.
